After five years as the supplier for scanning and interpreting the U-CAN surveys, we have won the new procurement and will continue the assignment for Uppsala University for several more years.
The U-CAN survey is a 28-page study on cancer, heredity, medical history and health habits, with more than 500 variables. Each year, well over a thousand completed questionnaires are scanned, captured and verified.
What makes the assignment demanding is the combination of many variables and a large number of hand-filled numeric fields. I check every answer in every variable against the image of the survey page before delivery — not a sample, but all of them. In research data, a single systematic error in one variable can ruin the entire analysis.
Winning a new procurement after five years of deliveries is the best possible confirmation that the method holds.
